Hello all fellow MSU students,
My name is Christian Gillman and I am the current ASMSU AA (Academic Assembly) representative for the College Of Communication Arts and Sciences. I wanted to let you all know of a great opportunity that's currently possible for MSU and the surrounding area.
Google is currently looking to find a test community to build a fiber optic internet connection in. This connection could offer internet speeds of over 1GB (gigabyte) per second. This is a large speed increase over whats currently offered around here and could be a major enhancement to our facilities and their ability to expand.
Currently Google is accepting nomination submissions from citizens and organizations to promote their communities. This is going to continue until March 26 when Google will then look it over and make their final decision. The submission process is quite easy and only takes around 10 minutes to complete so I urge all to take the time to quickly fill it out and promote East Lansing and the surrounding area.
Here is the link to submit your nominations.

If you wish to know more about this here are a few links to different sources of information.
A State News article on the subject:

This is for an organization (Accelerate Lansing) leading the charge to bring this fiber optic facility to our area:

The deadline is fast approaching so tell everyone you know to nominate our community. I will personally bring this up with the rest of AA at our next meeting however time is short so get your nominations in.
